LESLEY J. BEAM

Lesley attended Vanderbilt University as a Dean's Select Honor Scholar and graduated cum laude in 2000 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in literature and writing. While studying at Vanderbilt she was active in theater, SGA, Interhall and served as a staff writer for the school newspaper, The Hustler. She is a member of Chi Omega sorority. In 1998 Lesley attended Murdoch University in Perth, Australia where her interest in law took seed – taking a course in corporate law.

Lesley was awarded an Honor Scholarship to attend Washington and Lee University School of Law from which she received her Juris Doctor degree in 2003. She was legislative editor of the Environmental Law Digest and served on the Faculty Selection Committee there. Lesley excelled in Mock Trial and Negotiations competitions. She also took pride in the school-wide Recycling Program, which she founded.

As a law clerk for the United States Environmental Protection Agency in Washington, DC during the summer of 2001, Lesley drafted a comprehensive internal guidance document comparing statutory provisions of multiple environmental media and researched EPA policy provisions.

After her second year of law school, Lesley worked as an intern for the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General Corps at Schofield Barracks in Hawaii. During this time she gained valuable experience in drafting separation documents, dealing with credit disputes and conducting research regarding divorce, annulment, separation, as well as estates.

During her final year of law school, Lesley interned with the Commonwealth Attorney of Botetourt County, VA. She represented the Commonwealth in Circuit Court and General District Court, in bench trials, sentencing and revocation hearings, guilty pleas and review hearings. She also held witness interviews, drafted motions, and researched case and statutory law.

After graduating from law school, Lesley became an assistant district attorney in Lehigh County, PA representing the Commonwealth in jury trials, preliminary hearings, juvenile adjudication, sentencing and revocation hearings.

Lesley was a contract trial preparation attorney at a major law firm in Philadelphia from October 2004 until July 2006. She was responsible for document review for litigation, assessment of risk and preparation of alternatives. Clients included pharmaceutical and financial companies.

Lesley is admitted to practice in all Pennsylvania state courts. She is a member of the Pennsylvania State, and Cumberland, Dauphin and York County Bar Associations.
