DAMIAN J. DESTEFANO
Damian J. DeStefano, Esquire was born and raised in Easton, Pennsylvania. Damian attended Easton Area High School. At Easton High School, Damian played baseball and was the captain of the varsity soccer team. Damian graduated high school in 1997.
Damian went on to attend Northeastern University in Boston Massachusetts. He worked for various law firms such as WilmerHale (formerly Hale & Dorr) and Cetrulo & Capone LLP. He was awarded the best undergraduate thesis for his dissertation on the Internet Tax Freedom Act. In 2003, Damian graduated magna cum laude from the College of Arts and Sciences with Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science and a minor in Law and Legal Studies, Honors distinction. He was a member of the Pi Sigma Alpha Honor Society. He also graduated magna cum laude from the College of Business with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Management Information Systems. He is a member of the Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Society.
During the summer following college, Damian was a substitute teacher at Philipsburg High School in Philipsburg, NJ. While at Philipsburg High, Damian taught such subjects as History, Political Science and Social Studies.
Damian continued his education at the Widener University School of Law in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. At Widener, he was a member of the Phi Alpha Delta Honor Society and was the President of the St. Thomas More Society. The society dedicated its time to giving back to the community and performing community service. Also while at Widener, Damian worked as a legal assistant at Powell, Rogers, & Speaks in Halifax, Pennsylvania. In his third year of law school, Damian worked in the Harrisburg Civil Law Clinic where he handled landlord/tenant disputes, assisted with criminal matters, and was exposed to a variety of issues in divorce and family law.
Upon graduation from law school in 2007, Damian was offered, and accepted, a position as a Certified Legal Intern with the Dauphin County Office of the Public Defender pending results of both the Pennsylvania and New Jersey Bar exams. After passing both, Damian was offered, and graciously accepted, an Assistant Public Defender position. During his career as a Public Defender, Damian gained valuable trial and courtroom experience; he handled a vast number of criminal matters from the preliminary through trial and Appellate levels, as well as juvenile delinquency and dependency matters.
Currently, Damian heads the Family law division of Kope & Associates, representing clients in a vast array of family law matters such as divorce, custody and support. Damian also assists with various criminal matters as needed. Damian is admitted to practice in all Pennsylvania State Courts. He is a member of the Pennsylvania State, and Cumberland, Dauphin, and York County Bar Associations. He is also affiliated with the Pennsylvania Association of Trial Lawyers.
